OK, this step is kind of Duh, but still. You can't really do any sort of renovation without getting everything out first. Our airstream was actually mostly emptied by the previous owner, who had planned to remake it as a traveling bar, but ran out of time and money. The only original interior in place were the rear closets and the rear bathroom. This is what it looked like:
I removed some old armchairs, a pile of manuals, assorted 8-tracks, a raincoat, some tools, and other random crap. I dutifully arranged all the items for Instagram:
